Biography

Thank you for visiting my webpage. I am a research scientist, interested mainly in fundamental Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) methods for Scientific Machine Learning (SciML), and broader relevant areas of AI/ML trust and privacy.

Currently, I am a Technical Lead and Senior Research Manager at Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), working with diverse AI/ML teams across Stanford and the corporate world, in order to envision and build novel solutions connecting cutting-edge AI/ML/GenAI and foundation models research to real-world problems.

Prior to joining Stanford, I was a research scientist at the Center for Computing Research of Sandia National Laboratories, where I worked with the Dakota team and PI'd a number of projects on UQ/ML for high-dimensional surrogate modeling, computer vision, and time-series analysis. Before Sandia, I was an R&D manager of data science at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a research fellow at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of UC Davis and the Computational Visualization Center under Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at UT Austin, and an R&D engineer at Cisco Systems. I hold a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (with a minor in Applied Math) from the University of California, Davis, and MS.c./BS.c. degrees in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. I am a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM and SIAM.
